Recent news, album release info, featured music, chart history, birthday nods and a few calls (when available) taken during the second half of the show with a surprise interview once in a blue moon. All dealing with 80s music and the artists (that released albums during the 1980s.) More info at Talking80sMusic.com and 80sMusicCentral.com. This Podcast was created using www.talkshoe.com

This week we feature music ("Do The Right Dance," "Giving Up The Ghost" and "Now That You're Gone") from the recently reissued T'Pau album, Red. We also played a snippet of new song by Thunder from their upcoming album, took a call from KoolGuy and went off tangent with some of the conversation in the chat room.

This week on Talking 80s Music, we feature music ("Let Love Come," "Glow" and "Only Love") from Go West's new studio album, Futurenow, as well as a retrospective mix.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 55.25 MB here

This week we focused on the new Blackmore's Night album, Secret Voyage, by former Deep Purple and Rainbow guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. We played "Locked Within The Crystal Ball," "Gilded Cage" and "Can't Help Falling In Love" from the album and gave away a copy to someone in the chat room.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 57.73 MB here

We haven't really focused much on female vocalists or country artists during our previous 85 shows... so this week we combine them. Crystal Gayle has recently seen the reissue of many of her albums in 2-for-1 sets. We plan to feature songs ("Too Many Lovers," "Baby, What About You," "The Sound Of Goodbye" and "Straight To The Heart") from each of the 4 sets during this episode.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 60.4 MB here

We have had a variety of music episodes in the last few weeks. This week we plan to lean towards R&B as we feature music ("Freakshow On The Dancefloor," "Sexomatic," "Just 2" and "Long Time Comin") by The Bar-Kays.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 60.37 MB here

This week we head back to the U.K. for our third episode featuring songs (by Bomb The Bass, Bad Manners, The Four Tops and Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk featuring Darryl Pandy) from the 5-CD collection, 100 Hits: 80s.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 60.45 MB here

It isn't often that the show falls on Martin's birthday. We set a record number for calls but most of them were from his family. We also played songs by Mondo Rock ("Primitive Love Rites",) Thelonious Monster ("So What If I Did",) Coldcut ("Stop This Crazy Thing",) Britny Fox ("Girlschool") and a last minute Depeche Mode ("Pleasure Little Treasure".) Sadly, we had some technical difficulty early on with our call from Stacy as it seemed to have overlapped with our news segment and left a gap afterward. Very odd. We'll be watching that in the future.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 65.33 MB here

This week we featured music ("I Want To Be Free," "The Vow," "Don't Fall In Love (I Said)" and "Echo Beach") from Good Morning Universe: The Best Of Toyah. She didn't find the same success here in the U.S. as in the U.K. but is still worth investigating for the 80s music obsessed. We also mentioned the call-in marathon planned for next week.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 63.09 MB here

We had to take a quick detour from our schedule this week. We will be featuring songs ("International Bullet Proof Talent" and "Too Much 21st Century") from their new and final album, Go Away White. We will also play a personal favorite, "In The Flat Field," and one of our retrospective edits.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 56.09 MB here

This week we will feature songs ("Appetite," "When Love Breaks Down," "Faron Young" and "If You Don't Love Me") from the 39-track double-disc collection Kings Of Rock And Roll: The Best Of Prefab Sprout. For some reason their song-craft never caught on in the States but well worth your investigating. (Heck, Thomas Dolby produced one of their albums.) Should also be a longer episode this week as we make things more current... meaning we have 4 more days of news to squeeze in.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 64.4 MB here

Night Ranger Week is upon us and we will wrap up the week by featuring tracks ("You're Gonna Hear From Me," "Drama Queen," "Whatever Happened" and "White Knuckle Ride") from their upcoming album, Hole In The Sun.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 52.3 MB here

Classic rock struck back this week as we featured new music by Asia ("Never Again"), REO Speedwagon ("Find Your Own Way Home") and Journey ("Never Walk Away".) We also threw in an Aerosmith request ("Helter Skelter") and talked to both Koolguy and LikeTotally80sRadio.com's Aaron Phillips.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 66.75 MB here

This week we will feature music (by the Belle Stars, The Christians, The Cool Notes and Jason Donovan) from the recently released collection, Fantastic 80s.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 51.93 MB here

It's Bret Michaels week. Well, not nationally or anything but we are celebrating it. We gave away a copy of his new album, Rock My World, earlier in the week via the newsletter. We will wrap up the week by giving away a copy during the show and playing a few tracks ("Go That Far," "Fallen," "Raine" and "Start Again") from the album.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 51.6 MB here

This week we feature music ("Skin Crawl," "Every Second Of Everyday," "Can't Find My Own Way" and "Halo") from, Surreal, the upcoming debut album by Man Raze (which has Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, Girl bassist Simon Laffey and Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook.) We also talk to KoolGuy -- hanging out in the chat room -- about the songs, going to see ZZ Top tonight and Aerosmith. Sounds like a busy house.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 50.19 MB here

This week we head back to classic U.K. hits (by Nick Kamen, Owen Paul, The Lotus Eaters and The RAH Band) that never broke stateside with a few songs from disc 2 of the 100 Hits: 80s collection.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 56.82 MB here

This week we will be featuring songs ("The Very First Time" and "Sixteen Seconds To Choose") from ABC's upcoming new studio album, Traffic, a mix of their singles and "King Without A Crown."
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 60.52 MB here

Miss your antmusic? Yes, this week we will feature tracks (refresher course, "Ant Invasion," "Physical (You're So)" and "Vanity") off of Dandy Highwaymen: The Best Of Adam And The Ants. Break out the silk shirts, pirate gear and face paint!
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 54.73 MB here

This week we will feature music ("Boomerang," "A Shot Of Democracy" and "Silhouette") from Cutting Crew's latest album, Grinning Souls.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 49.26 MB here

This week we do something completely different. We will be focusing on a prominent disease that is inextricably tied to the decade... AIDS. We will be talking to a fellow 80s fan, Danielle, who will be participating in the AIDS Walk of New York 2008 on May 18th. We plan to sponsor her walk and, if you would like to do the same, more information will be given during the show. We will feature music by several artists that lost their battles with the disease.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 71.52 MB here

This week we will feature songs (by Bucks Fizz, Spagna, Eighth Wonder and Dollar) from the Demon Music Group compilation, 100 Hits: 80s. This will be part 1 in a series of episodes from this collection of U.K. hits -- focusing especially on the ones that didn't their success in the U.S.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 57.14 MB here

This week we feature music (a refresher mix, "Semi-interesting Week," "It's A Miracle" and new single "Crazy Water") from the new Was (Not Was) release, Boo!
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 65.21 MB here

This week we feature music (samples of their singles, "Over The Wall," "The Game" and "Do It Clean (Live)") from Killing Moon: The Best Of Echo & The Bunnymen. We also plan to give away a copy of their self-titled 1987 CD to a caller... maybe force them to answer a trivia question.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 68.69 MB here

This week we feature music ("867-5309/Jenny," "Teen Angel Eyes" and "Small Things") from Tommy Tutone's collection, The Singles. Looking back, we noticed we have been everywhere but the U.S. since early February. Expecting a crazy show as Martin gets married the next day.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 61.68 MB here

This week we celebrate the Edsel Records reissue of the classic Thompson Twins albums Into The Gap and Quick Step & Side Kick. We will talk a little about the group. Feature a mix of singles from the albums as well as rare and album tracks from the discs.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 73.61 MB here

Ahhh, The Beat. Or the English Beat for us in the U.S. We'll explain that as we feature songs (a hit mix, "Click Click," "Walk Away" and "Sole Salvation") from their recently released 37-track double-disc collection, You Just Can't Beat It: The Best Of The Beat, from Demon Music Group's Music Club Deluxe label.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 61.39 MB here

Loverboy has surfaced with their latest release, Just Getting Started. We plan to feature a mix of their hits (just a hits refresher) before we play the title track, "Fade To Black" and "As Good As It Gets" from the album. We're hoping to stay under 2 hours this week.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 66.66 MB here

A 2-hour episode this week as we feature a hit mix, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," "Tomb Of Memories" and "Iron Out The Rough Spots" from the double-CD Demon Music Group compilation, Wherever I Lay My Hat: The Best Of Paul Young. We also rant a bit about the music business, some of the cheap 6 to 10 track 'best of' collections previously/still being released and take a call from Vince.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 97.58 MB here

French post-punk/electronic act Buzz relaunched in 2006 and their new album Minimal & Electronique will be released this same day. This week we plan to feature an early track ("Kennedy") from the band as well as the title track, "Je Suis Avec Toi" and "East Village Radio (Dirty Sweet Project remix)" from the new disc.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 62.72 MB here

When we first started recording this show, we decided that Tony Carey would be a great artist to feature. An interview was scheduled early on but we never seemed to find the right time. So this week, we are going to feature him without the interview. The former Rainbow keyboardist had a string of solo hits in the 1980s. We will feature "A Fine, Fine Day" from his Live In Sweden 2006 Volume 1 album, "Why Me?" from his 1983 Planet P Project self-titled release and Planet P Project's "Join The Parade" from their recent album 1931: Go Out Dancing (Part 1). We also had an Australian caller before the end of the show.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 78.08 MB here

We will be featuring Boulder, Colorado, reggae-influenced rock/pop act The Samples this week showcasing the songs: "Birth Of Words," "Taking Us Home" and their cover of John Lennon's "Watching The Wheels." Of course, your regular dose of news, info and sarcasm.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 56.29 MB here

This week we feature Los Angeles' Plimsouls. Often overlooked when talking about 80s music, their 1983 album, Everywhere At Once, is essential for inclusion in your collection. We will feature the album's title track, "Oldest Story In The World" and their hit "A Million Miles Away."
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 58.91 MB here

Lot of news this week but aside from our regular content we will celebrate the recently announced 25th anniversary reunion of Yazoo (or Yaz for those in the U.S.) We will discuss their brief history, lightly touch on their previous and recent projects and feature a hits mix as well as the songs "In My Room" and "Mr. Blue."

Nation-hopping, I like to call it. Last week it was Britain, this week we go to Canada to feature music ("The Enemy" and "Roadkill") by punk act D.O.A. About time we got to the punk movement.
attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 47.23 MB here

attached file:

attached file:
type: audio/mpeg size: 52.34 MB here

This week we will feature tracks ("Welcome To The Machine" and "Heaven On Their Minds") from Queensryche's new studio album, Take Cover. We will also keep taking your Christmas song votes and getting to our regular segments.
