http://archives.mobilemovie.ca Sat, 04 Oct 2008 04:33:40 +0200 Mobile Movie Minute 92 tackles Ford Motor Company and the plodding inventor who takes them on. Intermittant wipers - who knew they could be the stars of a movie? True story based on a New Yorker article - maybe that was where it should have stayed. Plodding and disjointed, but redeemed by the family affair. Ho hum. 3 bags of grease monkey popcorn and you'll wish you'd rented it. The Mobile Movie Minute Archives are where you want to go next. attached file: type: audio/x-m4a size: 7.36 MB here Thu, 02 Oct 2008 04:52:06 +0200 Mobile Movie Minute 91 takes to the streets and wrecks everything in sight. And we mean everything. Wild, destructive car chases, an out-of-control super duper computer, and a plot to take out the entire Executive Branch of the US government. Who knew executive producer Spielberg was so destructive? 3.5 bags of can-we-wreck-anymore-police-car popcorn for this boys night out feature. Dead people, depressing/dour dentist, a heroine that's so easy to fall for, and a pain-in-the-ass dead main character. But - it somehow all works. Crazy funny and poignant. Put this on your must see/rent list for sure. 4 bags of 'I'm Looking Through You' popcorn. Hilarity reigns as Brad wins the Dufus Of The Year Award. George is uninspired, but John is fantastic. As is Frances. See this nutball film before word gets out. 3.9 bags of burn-the-body popcorn for this flick that brought down the house at the Toronto International Film Festival. You'd think you were watching Bond, James Bond. But you're not, you're watching Don Cheadle being a pretty good bad guy, or is it a bad good guy? You'll find out about three quarters of the way through. 3.6 bags of blow-up-the-bus popcorn for this start-the-fall-movie-season thriller. The Mobile Movie Minute Archives rock! Thanks to the Toronto Film Society for hosting such a great series. This week we get the gory details of murders in Hollywood and behind-the-scenes action from inside Hollywood. Hitch is unmistakable in his style, even that many years ago. Jane Wyman is beautiful. Marlene Dietrich is stunning and cunning. Both flicks are worth a popcorn evening. Ok, Woody's not in the flick, but he might as well be, as all of Scarlett, Rebecca, Javier and Penelope are Woody in character. Well done, very entertaining. But be warned, no nudity in the love scenes. You can see it with your mom and it'll be ok. 3.8 bags of baked-in-Barcelona popcorn for one of Woody's best since the '80's. This is not Annie Hall. Peter Fonda almost pulls off his role as the Devil. Nicolas is far better as the Bonehead Hothead than he is as Johnny Blaze, but what the heck, he rides a mean motorcycle! 4.2 bags of popcorn - this is a fun flick, the kind that's usually reserved for the summer.
