Get help, advice and information on all your Computers and Technology issues. Fri, 25 Jul 2008 04:04:21 +0200 Before implementing application monitoring solution, work out how this will be used and identify its "end game". If your business wants to overcome network bandwidth limitations and latency issues for your corporate functions to overcome poor service quality you might want to check for an integrated monitoring and delivery solution. Monitoring functionality can be one section of a widely optimized solution that offers a way to fix the performance problems it reports. Then start the performance testing and terminal server lead testing. While approving functionalities, organizations should keep in mind to include: Network latency management, Bandwidth reduction, Server efficiency and Virtual security. Once you have assessed what your needs are, you can accomplish it by implementing an active monitoring solution which should then observe the various selections and opt for the most suitable monitoring technology. The most commonly used and deployed monitoring solutions today fall into one of major four ca tegories: Sniffer-based, Synthetic agent-based, Desktop agents-based and Agent less. Each and every technology manages to monitor the end-user performance in its own exclusive way; however, not all of them deliver the same results. Also, many solutions will combine and average the data over time, while others will provide full granularity. Sniffer-based monitoring solutions "watch" traffic on the network LAN by hooking into a network control. This group of monitoring solution enables users to inactively scrutinize traffic, while deploying the main client-to-server data path outside and thus decreasing overall deployment roadblocks. However an actual end-user measurement cannot be sure. In this situation, proxy servers block end-user measurements because intermediary proxies block all information regarding the identity of the client. This means there is no guarantee of actual end-user measurements. Remote agent-based monitoring solutions require server based computer deployments of client emulation s
Fri, 25 Jul 2008 03:59:34 +0200 Slow application acceptance rates can seriously impact on your business performance. Even though there is an large quantity of application performance-monitoring solutions available in the market, organizations and also on internet will not see the benefits of those solutions if they do not realize that actual end-user experience is very important to managing application liberation toward business goals and service levels for IT services. The prospect of choosing an application monitoring solution can be a tough task. Some solutions only monitor basic aspects and actions of the end-user experience monitoring, while others necessitate additional software agents organized in order to work. Many software companies should appreciate the monitoring options available to them, and consider coming up with application performance monitoring which will deliver the value in terms of ensuring useful applications that serve the business. Web application follows a pattern were applications performance are measured f irst prior to considering it as acceptable. Because enterprise applications are very complex, graphical and require important back-and-forth communication between clients and servers, new issues appear when the applications route through WAN (Wide Area Network). Once the problems are identified properly, organizations should get complete and end-to-end performance measurement visibility. Company employees, business partners, suppliers and others access these business-critical applications, connecting through secure channels on a variety of uncontrolled platforms across various networks. The application monitoring tools designed for identifying major problems related software, are generally built for a more secured world of clientserver and the Internet, were real end-to-end monitoring is completely unfeasible. The tip is to track Web-based application performance with real time monitoring for actual end-users at the transaction level. This enables organizations to quickly identify any performance lev
Sat, 26 Jul 2008 05:00:14 +0200 More and more technology-savvy individuals prefer custom built computers rather than ready built ones. With this advent also comes the increased demand for computer parts. Although specific brand companies already cater to this increased computer parts demand, you may get better deals and choices with computer parts resellers. Online Computer Parts Resellers Offers Better Deals There are already numerous computer parts resellers out there. However, if you want convenience and speedy purchases, then you may want to consider online computer parts resellers. Here are some of the excellent features that online computer parts resellers offer: 1. Discounts. An online computer parts reseller does not have to pay for store space and other overhead expenses related to holding store space. For this reason, they can easily offer discounts compared to non-online computer parts resellers. 2. Wholesale Prices. Assembling a PC is preferable than buying ready built PCs because of the price. When you bu y computer parts one by one, your total expenses will not reach the price of a ready built PC, given that you do not have to pay for assembling it. If you assemble lots of PCs for business use, then you may even save more by buying wholesale at an online computer parts reseller. Buying wholesale means buying a specified minimum number of parts set by the computer parts reseller. The best thing to buying wholesale is the price; if you compute prices on a per unit basis, you will find out that prices are a whole lot cheaper. 3. Warranty. An online computer parts reseller offers the option of buying products with warranties or not. Although products with warranties cost more, having a warranty is preferable. Manufacturing defects of computer parts is not uncommon and buying under a warranty will allow you to request for replacement. 4. More Choices. When you buy at brand specific stores, your choice is limited to their brand. While some brands may be best at certain computer parts, it does not
Thu, 24 Jul 2008 03:50:50 +0200 If the rumors and leaks are true about the next Windows version, Microsoft has learned a lot from the Vista fiasco. Windows 7 is Microsofts name for Vistas successor, and by all accounts its going to be swifter, smaller, and lighter than Vista. According to a lot of published stories and rumors based on leaked developer builds, the next windows operating system will be built around a more modular iteration of the core Vista kernel. A modular kernel would lack a graphical user interface (GUI) but would have built-in networking, which means that Microsoft could build an OS with either an elaborate GUI for eye-candy addicts, or a minimal one for use on low-end computers and servers that couldnt dream of running Vista. These are the kind of machines that now run Linux and are likely to be found in emerging world markets. Microsoft controls the corporate desktop, and has enterprise management tools that cannot be matched, but Linux made an end run around this market to take over the cheap hardware used everywhere else. Vista is just too big and clumsy to be able to catch up. Windows 7 is designed to be swift where it needs to be swift, but even more feature packed than Vista on higher-end systems built for the enterprise or entertainment. Microsoft has not said much officially about Windows 7. Bill Gates recently said during a recent speech in Japan to the Windows Digital Media Lifestyle Consortium that it would be lower power, take less memory, be more efficient, and have lots more connections up to the mobile phone. He also said, If you have two personal computers, your files will be automatically synchronized between them, so you wont have a lot of work to move that data back and forth. The rest of what we know comes partly from leaks by developers, and partly from interpretations of job listings at Microsoft. To compound the confusion, we dont know when Windows 7 will be launched. The dates being discussed range from early 2009 (highly unlikely) to 2010 (possible). The is a slightly
Thu, 24 Jul 2008 06:37:18 +0200 Mozilla recently released the latest version of their flagship product, Firefox 3.0. Internet users are turning to Firefox 3.0 for a more productive and safer and online experience. Branded by Mozillas site as their best Firefox yet, the new browser has 15,000 improvements with all the perks of the original still there. You may not have heard about it yet, but Mozilla attempted to break a world record on number of downloads with what they called Download Day. The jury is still out as to whether or not they broke any records, but not surprisingly, more than 8 million users downloaded Firefox 3.0 on its launch date. With such a following, this is a browser worth looking into. Safety First Mozilla has raised the bar for security. Firefox protects you and your computer with Malware and Spy Site Protection as well as including support for the new Extended Validation SSL certificate. Firefox 3.0 also includes an updated list that tracks all sites reported as Malware sites. The browser then blocks susp icious sites before they can even load up on your screen. When you arrive at sites reported for installing viruses, spyware, or other types of malware, a full sized message displays to warn you. This red alert window includes a Why was this site blocked? button if you want more information and a conveniently located Get me out of here! button. You can click on the site icon for a quick identity overview to make sure you know who youre dealing with. This overview pops up right away and tells you whether or not the site provides identity information which uses an SSL certificate to protect your personal data from third-party viewers. Mozilla also protects Windows users from downloading harmful files to your computer. When you download a file, the antivirus program automatically checks it for viruses and other malware. Family Friendly You can also keep your kids from downloading files that arent Mom-and-Pop approved. This is done by enforcing parental control settings youve entered on Window
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:49:51 +0200 It goes without saying that computing and gaming can be a fairly expensive hobby so many will turn to the second hand market to get started or look to progress further with whatever systems they prefer to use. Its an area littered equally with pitfalls and opportunities for the buyer but how do you know just what to look out for? For those of you looking to console gaming on a budget, then older systems are definitely worth considering. Playstation 2s are becoming more common on the second hand market as more and more are upgrading to the vastly superior Playstation 3, as is the original XBox with owners again upgrading. Don't always expect a lot of games as many sellers will keep a lot of their games to use on their newer consoles but you should still be able to grab a bargain or two. Games for both are still easy to pick up on the high street at knock-down prices so theyre still worth thinking about. Onto the current wave of consoles and this is where you will have to give more consideration about what system you want to buy as each has its advantages and disadvantages. Nintendos Wii is targeted more at a family audience as most of its games demonstrate and it takes a fairly novel approach to gaming with its innovative motion-sensitive controller. Its certainly not the most technologically advanced of all of the consoles, hence its lower price, but it has proved to be incredibly popular. Because of the lower retail price, this is the cheapest way to get into next-gen gaming, but more serious gamers might be put off by the family bias in the catalogue of games available. Since its launch the XBox 360 has proven to be a smash hit despite confusion over the different models available. Its a very powerful system with the most extensive range of games available of all of the latest machines at present. There have been some technical issues with the hardware and reliability problems experiences by some users and there does seem to be an over-reliance on PC-style games but for the hard-core gam
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 16:12:21 +0200 Troubleshooting an Electrical problem: Although for most of us it is an uphill task, but keeping a few rules in mind, it becomes a cakewalk, well, almost. A source of power is an essential for every circuit. All circuits require continuity In general, electrical devices require a minimum voltage for proper functioning Also note that the root causes for most electrical problems are zero or very low voltage, or loss of continuity in connection. Before we get down to troubleshooting the actual problem, we will need a Wiring Diagram of the electrical system. These wiring diagrams can be of two kinds: a block diagram (this entails the system-components and their inter-relations) and a schematic diagram. Safety is the best policy! Avoid giving or receiving jump-starts from the Ignition Engines that possess computer-controlled equipment. This is done to eliminate the chances of damage of voltage spikes. The battery must be disconnected when doing electrical repairs or while replacing e lectrical (or electronic) component. This eliminates an accidental short. One must remain careful when probing wires. An electrical tape must be used to cover the hole that is made while probing a wire. Tool-up! A test light: This looks like a screwdriver with a pointed end. There is a bulb present in the handle which lights up if there is power present. A voltampohm meter: A digital meter or an analog meter. Your choice. A set of jumper wires pre-made in different lengths with clips: Used when bypassing a section of harness. This helps to isolate the problem area. Lets get started! The load point in the circuit is the element that a circuit is meant to power. Check for presence of voltage. Suppose no voltage is found at the load point. Bravo! We are one step closer to the problem. Check the fuse, circuit breaker that protects the circuit, or the power relay that supplies voltage to the circuit. Check circuit breaker by bypassing it with a jumper wire. If the circuit works when yo
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:47:36 +0200 Why would I choose the EOS 40D as an entry level digital SLR? Im very excited about Canons new successor to the EOS 30D, though it is one of the more expensive entry level digital SLRs, you get what you pay for. Most entry level digital SLRs use plastic the Canon 40D uses magnesium alloy for the body which not only means its going to be more durable in the long term but also tougher and resilient. Like other semi-pro cameras, the Canon EOS 40D offers two control wheels; one on the top of the handgrip, and a large, spinning dial on the back of the camera that is easy to spin, for menu navigation Canons has incorporated an additional small joystick on the back of the camera which works well. Along with its easy to read menu system all its controls soon become second nature, and the layout does make routine adjustments very straightforward. To make the Canon EOS 40D quicker to use there are two LCD displays on this camera; one on top and the other on the rear. On cheaper cameras, the LCD on the rear usually has to do all the jobs, but on this model all the camera settings are visible from above on the smaller panel. The Canon EOS 40Ds software suite is very good, too. Not just image browsing and editing software, you also get Canons simple but effective PhotoStitch application for making panoramic shots, a utility for using the 40D remotely (while tethered to a PC) and Canons Digital Photo Professional application for converting RAW files. RAW conversion software isnt normally included by other makers. One advantage of Canons DIGIC III processor is the speed at which it can process images and save them to the memory card. This, and a heavy-duty shuttermirror mechanism, allows the Canon EOS 40D to achieve its amazing 6.5fps continuous shooting speed, and to maintain it for 75 JPEG images or 17 RAW files. In this respect that 40D completely obliterates its cheaper rivals, and if youre at all interested in sports photography, its an excellent choice for this reason alone the 3fps sho
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:48:21 +0200 The hard drive is known as the workhouse of the computer. Therefore, the hard drive needs periodic tuning, so that the hard drive can perform its operations smoothly and efficiently without any interruption. In order to maintain optimal health of the hard drive, the user can follow the instructions given below: First of all, look at the short-cut icons on your desktop. As we know that, it takes time for your PC to find these icons when it boots up. Therefore, turn off these icons with a swift right click or delete them if you dont need easy access to them. On the other hand, if you dont need all those pictures and individual files on the desktop, then you can start categorize them into folders. You can also delete the files that you do not use any longer along with the duplicate files. These folders eliminate the clutter on your PCs desktop. You should empty the Recycle Bin after the removal has taken place. The user can sort and delete the temporary and unused files with the help of Disk C leanup. With the help of Disk Cleanup, you can free the space on your hard drive. As a result, the hard disk can perform its operations faster and smoothly. The data on the hard drive is stored in bits and pieces, wherever space is available. When the user opens a certain file, the hard drive gathers the data from different locations where it is stored. As a result, the whirring sound comes from the hard drive. Use the Disk Defragmenter to reorganizing that scattered data on your hard drive. The benefit of Disk Defragmenter is that it shifts the files at the beginning that you use the most. In this way the load time increases and the hard disk and PC can perform more efficiently. When the user visits a new website, the system stores the content automatically in the folder of Temporary Internet files. It is also called as cache. The Temporary Internet files use valuable storage space and therefore, slow down the hard drives speed. You can delete these files and clear the cache through the tools func
Mon, 21 Jul 2008 22:05:44 +0200 Computer crime is very common. Stealing secret data, decoding passwords and above all misusing computer saved documents and files have become regular malpractices among the computer users. Computer forensics plays a vital role in inhibiting such offences. Computer forensics can be otherwise called as computer investigation. It provides with the legal evidence against different mishandlings and crimes related to computer. The use of computer forensics has made it possible to detect the exact crime area and also supports in the recovery of the lost or destroyed documents. Computer forensic specialists handle with care While conducting the forensic examination, the forensic specialist has to be very careful in handling the computer system altogether. Any misplacement or corruption of data or virus attack can damage the whole system. Computer forensics allows the forensic specialist to find out each and every file. Both the ordinary saved files and the password saved files are recovered through the forensic dete ction. Any file once stored in the hard disk will be recovered as much as possible through the computer forensic detection mechanism. The hidden and the protected files along with their contents can be accessed through the forensic tool. The computer forensics also plays the role of a technical analyzer thereby investigating the most unreachable part of the disk. Technically, the unallocated parts of the computer disk can be accessed through computer forensics. The specialists in this field really do it with efficiency. If expert opinion is required the computer forensic specialist immediately opts for such views without delay. They know very well that any discrepancy in the data and delay in its recovery may damage the entire system. The computer forensic professionals do very much care for time. Real benefits in different professional fields Companies dealing with law, insurance and banking business make use of computer forensics to the most. The prosecutors dealing with criminal offences like theft and co
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 16:06:23 +0200 Computers often break down at the worst of all times. These problems can be averted, or at least minimized with preventive maintenance. Several methods of keeping computer hardware in good working order deal with the external components of the computer, such as the keyboard and monitor. For example, it is important to keep the processor away from excess heat and moisture. There are also computer hardware preventive maintenance software programs that can help with the upkeep of other internal aspects of a computer. While it is rare to find a CMMS that works on all of a computers hardware, many different programs can be utilized simultaneously. Some computers have periodic automatic updates available that can be downloaded and used to improve the computers performance. Other software programs, known as disk defragmenters, manage hard drive space so that software programs take less time to access. Programs known as hardware diagnostic utilities can check the computers hardware components and alert the us er about any potential failures. Since some new hardware will not always work on all computers and could cause existing hardware to malfunction, it is important to have a CMMS program to ensure that the new hardware is compatible with existing hardware. Antivirus programs are another important component of computer hardware preventive maintenance software. Computer viruses have become increasingly common in recent years and can render a good computer useless. While computer viruses mainly attack software programs, they can ruin hardware as well. Several manufacturers make reliable antivirus software. A couple of well-known companies are Norton and McAfee. As with much preventive maintenance software, these programs are usually available for a free trial period before the user must pay a subscription fee. Computer hardware preventive maintenance software is necessary to keep computers in good working order. This software manages aspects of computer hardware that would be difficult and time-consuming f
Mon, 21 Jul 2008 22:29:09 +0200 Learn how to hold the computer mouse: Hold the sides of the mouse with your thumb on one side and ring finger or pinkie, which ever feels more comfortable to you, on the other side. Your index finger goes on the left button and your middle finger on the right button. (Some computer mice only have one button, some have several, and some have a wheel which you can use your middle finger to depress the wheel then turn it up or down to scroll pages very quickly or slow depending on how quickly you turn the wheel. Personally I love the wheel and would not have a mouse without it!) When you are told to 'click' use the button under your index finger, or the left button. Learn how to move the computer mouse: Slowly slide the mouse around on the mouse pad. See what happens to the arrow on the screen as you slide it around. Do you need a mouse pad: You should have a mouse pad under your mouse, (although the new optic mice do not require one). You will have an array of choices when purchasing a mouse pad; find the one that is comfortable for you. Rest your hand on the mouse pad or desk and move it slowly, there is no need to lift the mouse off the mouse pad unless you run out of room, then you just lift it up and reposition where needed. You don't need to move the mouse to the left or right, simply slide it left or right with the buttons still facing away from you. What does clicking do: Clicking sends a command to the computer. To click, gently press and release the left computer mouse button. Be careful not to move the mouse while you are clicking, if you accidentally do simply slide the mouse back to where you want to click and try again. Try to keep you hand relaxed on the mouse as you press and release without lifting your finger completely off the button. You are Done - Great job! That is all you need to know to start using your computer and that mouse. Keep working on it and before you know it, it will feel like second nature to you and you will not even have to think about what you are doin
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:55:26 +0200 Backing up your computer can be a pain in the rear! Well you know what I mean. If you are like me, then you always mean to "get around to it", but "around" somehow never comes. That was until one weekend and my hard drive failed, taking a very important project with it. Since the project was due that Monday, I frantically searched for the last backup to recover it. Much to my dismay, the backup was over a week old and I had done at least 20 hours of work on it since then. I spent the next 24 hours typing and redoing all that work! Since then I have been very careful to make backups as often as possible. You should make a backup schedule and stick with it. What files should be backed up? Now I know after you heard my sob story, you want to back up every little thing on your hard drive. This makes sense right? Well, unless you work in some big gov't agency or big corporation, you will quickly find out that the cost of hardware and backup media becomes an issue. So you have put on your thinking cap. Which files are irreplaceable? Which files if lost could negatively affect my business or work? Which files if destroyed or lost could cost me money or my job? How often do I need to back up? Naturally daily backups are the best but backups done on a weekly or monthly basis (if you feel lucky) are also good is these files are not critical. For business purposes, backups done only once a week just aren't frequent enough. Think back over this last week and all the work you have done. Now just imagine trying to recreate all that by hand if you hard drive fails. For important business related things you may want to consider a rotation of "daily weekly monthly" backups. Which Program should I use? An excellent backup program is Acronis True Image, which can make an "image" of your entire hard drive. This allows you to be able to restore your operating system as well as your data to a new hard drive if you have to. Another program that I have used to good effect is SyncBackSE. SyncBackSE not only backs up your data but w

Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:51:08 +0200 The workhouse of the computer is the hard disk. Therefore, it is important to know the functions and working of the hard disk. The files that we save are magnetically recorded onto the platter. The platter is placed inside the hard disk. The platters in most of the hard drives are usually mounted on a spindle. With the help of this spindle, the platter is able to spin faster and the speed can reach up to 15,000 times minute. The platter is two sided, and is mounted on a single arm which has a slider. The head can move across the surface with the help of the platter is two sided. In this way the head can read and access the data. The unit of data held by the platter is tracksinch. The track is equal to 1 concentric ring around the disk. The track is further divided into sectors, and the sector is equal to approx. 512 bytes. The saved data on the disk is referred accordingly to its sector and track. The process of data collection can be made faster by de-fragmenting the hard disk periodically. The de- fragmenting can be done with the help of Windows Disk Defragmenter, which reorganizes the scattered data on the hard drive. Once, the de-fragmentation is done, the files on the hard disk run faster and more efficiently. The de-fragmentation process shifts the files to the beginnings that are used most often. This shifting of files is done so that the hard disk can load these files immediately when they are accessed. The SATA (Serial ATA) hard drives are the next generation of ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) hard drives. The HP SATA hard drives have been developed and designed to offer its users the best and optimum prices for the entry level servers. The HP SATA hard drive also offers its customers the affordable solutions for external storage deployments in the environments with low workload. The hard disk Cleanup The Windows Disk Cleanup application sorts through the disk and deletes unused and temporary files. In this way space can be made available on the disk which speeds up the operation
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:54:03 +0200 If you are like us, you have been becoming increasingly troubled and disappointed on the high price of gasoline at the pump. You have entertained purchasing a hybrid, only nearly all drivers do not get adequate savings in gas to make the automobile worth them the least bit. Regrettably, Hybrid cars are some of the biggest Polluters! How's that you demand? Ever read the tag on a rechargeable battery? You can not throw them away. They are toxic and incorporate heavy metals that could contaminate ground water. The battery in a hybrid cars are likewise a rechargeable battery and they could weigh as much as 600 pounds. Consider what would come about whenever a hybrid car got in an accident right alongside a city's water system. They'd altogether demolish them. Let alone what do you do on that battery down the road. Conceive of twenty years from today, all the hybrid cars sitting in trash yards with their batteries leaking out heavy metals into the ground!
Tue, 15 Jul 2008 07:04:45 +0200 Most people in the UK who use the Internet do so via a broadband connection and router that is directly connected by a wire to their PC or laptop. Of course this is perfectly acceptable, but what advantages could going wireless bring and how do you go about this? Well lets start by explaining what wireless means. Well pretty obviously it means that hardware devices, such as your PC and the router that connects you to the internet, transmit information between each other without the need for a wire; instead they use radio signals. Providing your devices are within the hot spot (or in range as we used to refer to it) then they can happily talk to each other as if theres a wire between them. As wireless devices use radio waves, then just as your radio signal varies depending on where you are, so does your device signal. This means that they tend to only work up to about 100 metres (still quite a distance) and numerous thick walls between the two devices may also cause problems. However, this mea ns that most devices will work happily in and around most modern houses without a problem. The first thing to consider is what type of network to use. The current flavours of wireless network are unhelpfully denoted by the numbers 802.11 followed by the letter b, g or n as follows: b This is the oldest and slowest and has a bandwidth of up to 11 Mbps and a fairly short range g Currently the most common and is faster at up to 54 Mbps with a greater range n Is the latest and has a bandwidth of up to 200 Mbps and an even broader coverage. Dont worry too much about the terminology; all you really need to know is that the greater the bandwidth, the faster the connection! This means that if you want to download huge files (such as films) whilst lounging in bed or sitting in the garden then the faster the better. However, it is worth noting that the speed reduces as the signal weakens so a category b network with a strong signal may actually be faster than a category n with a weak signal.
Tue, 15 Jul 2008 12:11:59 +0200 ID cards are a very important part of today's society. They need to be protected so they will last longer and you won't have to replace them as often. One of the best methods for protecting your identification card would be to laminate it. In fact, laminating ID cards is actually one of the oldest and most popular ways to prevent your card from being damaged. It protects it from being bent as easily and from minor water damage. There are several different methods available to laminate cards but one of the best and most efficient ways is by using a laminating machine. There are many different designs available that work in a variety of ways depending on how often you would use the device. It would be a good idea to compare the different laminating machines to see what features they have to offer and which one would be the best for your particular needs. Why Use a Laminator Machine A laminator makes protecting ID cards easy, convenient and economical. In the past, you had to use laminate sheets to pr otect your cards. They were difficult to use and they usually wrinkled and puckered making it hard to read the card in these areas. You also had a lot of waste left over that had to be discarded. Separation is a common problem with this method and so you don't usually get the results you really wanted. Laminating machines have eliminated these problems. They are efficient and easy to use. The quality is much better and separation is very uncommon. Another big advantage of using a laminate device is to reduce the time and effort used in laminating ID cards. Can you imagine how much time they could save a large company that uses cards on a regular basis? They can be beneficial for smaller companies as well. Usually these employees are multi-tasking many jobs at once, so any device that saves time is a welcome addition to these offices. Reasons to Laminate Laminating cards make them more durable so they will last longer even when used regularly. ID cards that are not laminated will rip and tear easil

Sun, 13 Jul 2008 10:43:55 +0200 The majority of the engineering effort on the DAT-160 drive has gone into the DAT 160 cartridge loadunload, DAT160 media threading and tape path. The base error rate ERT of the drive measures how good the tape path and threading is. Minor deviations in tape tracking and tape edge damage manifest themselves in a degradation of ERT. A key design brief of the DAT160 tape drive is that it is a transition step to higher capacity DAT technology and HP wanted to ensure that the installed base had a good backwards compatibility experience. Ensuring existing users of DAT72 and DAT40 media see a good return on their investment in the technology is seen as being crucial to the ongoing success of DAT. HP sees backwards compatibility as being a fundamental element of the DAT160s return on investment equation, unlike other technologies that offer increased capacityperformance but offer no backwards compatibility. A significant element of any development program is testing. Design Verification and Test ( DVT) reports are developed testing each specification. Because of the complexities of the two formats, the test plan for the DAT160 drive was much larger and longer than for previous generations of DAT. In total 450,000 hours (more than 5 years) of testing were performed on the DAT160 drive before release. HP provides an MTBF Mean time between failures and bit ERT specification for its DDS products as a guide to the reliability that can be expected during customer use of these products. These specifications have, in the past, been generated using pre-production testing during the development of products. The existing specifications for the DDS products (pre 2004) were: MTBF: 400,000 hours at a 12 duty cycle Unrecoverable bit ERT: 1 in 1x10-15 Based on field data gathered for the HP DDS-4 and DAT72 products, these specifications have now been revised to bring them inline with the reliability seen in the field by end users based on an assumed duty cycle. Therefore, this gives a much more represe
Sat, 12 Jul 2008 21:16:46 +0200 When you assemble a CPU, you will get a glimpse of how advanced we are in technology. There is a wide array of CPU components available; from simple and functional ones to premium components. When you compare these components to previous years, this year can probably be described as the pinnacle of the Information Age. But of course, technology can only go forward and not backwards. So we can expect more technological advances despite the array of CPU components that are currently available. The wide array of CPU components will surely entice you to buy every single one of them. But components are not the first thing to consider in assembling a CPU, the computer case should be. Computer cases do not just determine how good the PC looks but determines the CPU components you can install and how these components will perform as well. There are varied types of computer cases. But basically, computer cases are classified according to: Size: Desktop vs. Tower. Desktop computer cases are fl at and horizontal, and could easily fit under the monitor. Because of its small size, desktop computer cases is definitely the winner in space saving. On the other hand, the tower computer cases are tall, vertical and occupy a lot more space than desktop computer cases. Form: AT vs. ATX. AT computer cases are older models and goes with Pentium 1 and or older systems. The ATX on the other hand, are newer models and complement Intels and AMD Athlons newer systems. With this type of classification, there really is no question to what form of computer case to choose; go with a computer case that complements newer systems. Functional and Great Looking Computer Cases Manufacturers of computer cases seem to be using design and color to take an edge over competitors. Computer cases are now available in different sleek architectural designs in different eye-catching colors. There are even bare and transparent computer cases. But aside from the color and design, choosing computer cases should be bas

Mon, 14 Jul 2008 10:24:11 +0200 Two of the best manufacturers of CPU processors are Intel and AMD Athlon. These two companies have been raging war against each other ever since AMD Athlon beat Intel to releasing a 64bit processor. But despite this, AMD Athlon computers have not completely won the battle yet. The two companies have been trying to beat the competitor in terms of price, clock speed or performance, power consumption and heat production. There have been processor releases one after the other from these companies, making CPU processor shopping even more difficult. The good thing though with this war between Intel and AMD Athlon is that we are given an array of the best processors. AMD Athlon computers have been around for a while now. They started with the release of the Athlon classic x86 processor way back when Intels Pentium 3 was the market leader. AMD Athlons first processor barely touched Intels market then. But in 2000, AMD Athlon dropped a bomb on Intel by releasing its Thunderbird processor. This time, AM D Athlon computers gained the market leader title over Intels Pentium 3. And ever since then, AMD Athlon has been competitively coming up with processors that seem to match, if not over perform Intel processors. Lets talk about speed! If you are on the look out for a processor, you will probably check how AMD Athlon processors match with Intels in terms of price and performance. Over the years, AMD Athlon has continually tried to improve its clock speed and other features. Current AMD Athlon processors are the 64 x2 series and 64 fx series. The 64 x2 series offers a clock speed range from 2.3 GHz and 3.0 GHz while the 64 fx series offers a clock speed range from 2.6 GHz to 3.0 GHz. AMD Athlon may not always match or over perform every Intel processor but the latest processor did. The fx -74 processor out performs Intels Core 2 Extreme QX6700, with a 3.00 GHz clock speed compared to the latters slower 2.66GHz speed. The Price Factor Since AMD Athlon is the newer brand, it is only natur

Sun, 13 Jul 2008 10:44:15 +0200 Fact: many small businesses have a website whose return on investment is zero.I have worked for years developing small web applications for self employed people. Every single one of them seems to desire getting on the internet, they like the idea of billions of people being able to visit their website and contact them. They think this will boost their business. However, I also noticed that most of those self employed people do not have the will nor the capabilities to properly market their website. Being a technical person myself, until recently I simply warned my clients that they might need quite a bit of time and effort in order to effectively market their website once it was online, otherwise it just would not make sense to build it in the first place.I offered them some extra marketing options such as google advertising tools and article submission for a reasonable fee, but many of them refused, thinking the website alone could drive a lot of new clients to them. Some times this has worked very well, but most of the times my clients refused to follow my advices.Having observed these phenomena, I thought about a solution, which I am sure will be quite popular in the future: Volatile Local Networks. The idea started from observing people in London (UK), where I recently moved. I see lots and lots of people going to cafes with a laptop or an iPhone and surf the internet when a wireless network is available. So I thought that it would be great if local self employed people (those within the wireless range) could actually advertise themselves in those networks, or it could be nice that self employed people could walk into a cafe with a laptop and offer the other clients some information about their business should they want to take a look at it.This is the basic idea of Volatile Local Networks: they are local networks in the sense that information comes from servers which are physically close to clients (servers and clients may actually
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:45:33 +0200 The blu-ray disk technology was introduced in the market in 2006. This new and advanced format of Blu-ray BD disk can store more data and is capable to playback high definition HD audio, photos, videos along with digital contents of other types. A standard Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) has the capacity to record data approximately up to 4.7GB. This 4.7GB is the capacity of a single sided DVD. This storage capacity of DVD is approx. equal to an average of 2 hours, along with some extra features. On the other hand to run a HD movie, it requires bandwidth of five times more. Therefore, the disk should also have 5 times more capacity to hold the data. With the passage of time, the movie studios and the TV sets are shifting towards the high definition. Therefore, the audience needs to have playback systems that provide more capacity and speed. The blu-ray technology is considered as the next generation of DVD. The bluray format has the technology to playback, store and record the high definition HD audio and vi deo as well. The blu-ray disk is more likely to replace the Digital versatile disk DVD. The blu-ray disk will soon become the standard for viewing HD movies and PC data storage. As the blu-ray format provides its users increased capacity and advanced interactivity, therefore, most of the leading entertainment companies of the world are now adapting and shifting towards the new blu-ray technology. The Blu-ray format provides approx. up to 66 greater recording capacity as compared to the other High definition DVD formats. With the passage of time, the demand has increased for the media to store higher capacity of data with better sound and picture quality. The blu-ray technology fulfills this requirement, and provides the recording flexibility. There are 3 media types of the blu-ray disc format BD-RE ( blu-ray rewritable format), BD-R ( blu-ray write-once format ) and the BD-ROM ( blu-ray read-only format ).The size of the DVD and blu-ray disk is the same. The structure of bluray disc format is different
Tue, 22 Jul 2008 16:01:48 +0200 Buying a printer is a one time cost, but since printer ink cartridges need to be bought on a regular basis, the cost of operating the printer and maintaining it in proper condition can add up. Each print command, however small, makes your printer use ink, but with some easy tips, you can actually save a lot of ink and use a cartridge for a longer period than usual. 1) Print only what is necessary Lets begin with economising. Most often, we end up making unnecessary printouts and in the process waste precious ink. For instance, you might need to print only a small portion of a web page instead of the whole page. Instead of simply printing the whole page, complete with its heavy graphics etc, be specific on what you want to have in hard copy and print only that portion. Text always consumes less ink compared to graphics or images. If textual information is all that you need then you can make sure that you dont print the graphics and images. If it is a web page you need to save in a printed for m, check for its print version. If there is no print version, you can copy and paste the text in a word document and take a printout of that. Also try to do a bit of planning and double check what you are printing before hitting the print button. 2) Go for a quick print preview Most branded printers such as HP, Canon, Dell, Epson or any other printer come with a printer driver which has a very useful print preview function. With this function, you can have a prior preview of the copy you want to take a print out of. This function is especially handy when you are directly taking the print out from the Internet. At times, what you see on a site is totally different as compared to the printed version. A quick preview can help to get the printout of the material that you specifically want. 3) Make sure the power is turned off Just as you never switch off your computer without properly shutting it down, the same rule applies to your printer too. If you dont shut down the printer properly,
Mon, 07 Jul 2008 02:50:17 +0200 Unix signals are initiated either by running programs, computer administrators, or operators. One example of a signal is the SIGHUP signal, which is sent to the internet to instruct the Internet Daemon, also known as inetd, to repeat reading the Daemon's configuration file. To interrupt the Daemon's currently running process (ID, or PID), key in the command kill -SIGHUP 4140. It is also possible to use signals to terminate a currently running process. To end the inetd process entirely, key in the following command: kill 4140. This command will, by default, send a SIGTERM signal. If this command fails, then the SIGKILL command is entered to end this process: kill -9 4140. Since this command cannot be controlled, it is usually not a good idea to utilize it to stop a process. This command does not permit a process to clean up or to end gracefully. How are Unix Signals Managed? Every Unix signal results in a default range of effects when used with a Unix program. Computer programmers can opt to code their own applications for a customized response upon the receipt of most signals. The term used to describe these individually designed strings of code is "signal handlers". Signal handlers are unable to redefine two unique signals. In every situation, SIGKILL is used to end a process. Similarly, SIGSTOP always sends a running application to the background when it is in the foreground.
Fri, 04 Jul 2008 03:45:23 +0200 Digital technology has taken the world by storm, so much so that it might be easy to think the revolution is over. Digital cameras have decreased in size considerably over time and may cost 50 or 500. They are now more affordable and more user friendly than ever and although the latest digital cameras are remarkable pieces of machinery, there are still many of them on the market today. Digital cameras have replaced film for their convenience, even though only recently have digital cameras approached the quality of 35mm film. They have advanced so much in the last seven years that they've become the preferred imaging solution for more than just fan web sites; they're preferred by anyone who needs to get pictures on a deadline and with convenience.
Fri, 04 Jul 2008 03:45:24 +0200 My friend Sharon called recently to ask for my email address. Her hard drive crashed and she was in the process of rebuilding a new drive--application by application and, it would seem, one email address at a time. Everything on her old drive was gone, including the photos from her recent vacation. Unfortunately, the backups she had been doing so religiously every night contained nothing. No one really expects a disk crash but drive failures do happenand often at the most inconvenient times. In addition to the possible loss of important data files, a disk crash can leave you with the daunting task of having to replace the dead drive and reinstall your operating system and all of your applications. While youre doing thisassuming you know how to do this, your computer remains nonfunctional. While this rebuilding time can range from mildly annoying to extremely aggravating for a home computer user, it can bring a computer-dependent small business, or even a large office, to a virtual standsti ll. Whatever you use your computer for, having a quick and easy-to-restore backup can eliminate both the distress and the expense of the prolonged downtime normally associated with a hard drive failure. When youre restoring from a drive failure, the best kind of backup to have is an image backup. Most backup software products are designed to provide a way to backup and restore individual files. There are, however, some backup software applications that make it possible to backup your entire drive. A complete drive backup is called an image backup or image copy. Some full-featured backup software products will provide both image backup and individual file backup. They allow you to make an exact image copy of your drive and then supplement this with regular (daily, weekly, etc.) file backups. This is useful because, while some files on your hard drive change frequently, many files hardly ever change and need to be updated only rarely if ever at all. An image copy is a drive to drive copy. Thu, 03 Jul 2008 18:34:21 +0200 As new techniques and technologies are being introduced with the passage of time, it has become more important for the comapanies to adapt new techniques to have backup storage for the data. Therefore, the data storage medium must have fast data recovery ands storage speed. The data storage medium must be faster and reliable in order to compete in the market. For the purpose of backup storage, the magnetic tape is considered as one of the most rigid, reliable, effiecient and robust medium. The ultrium LTO (Linear Tape Open) tape offers its users the best solutions to solve the backup storage issues. It has the capacity to store and retrieve high volumes of data at a high speed. All the cryptosystems are based on the cryptographic algorithm techniques. The cryptographic algorithm techniques are described below: The secret key encryption The Secret Key encryption is also known as symmetric encryption. This Secret Key encryption technique uses one key for encryption and decryption as well. The secre t key is subdivided into two more classes that are the stream ciphers and block ciphers. The block ciphers operate on discreet blocks of data, while on the other hand the stream ciphers encrypt character by providing a continuous stream of encrypted data. The need of high-performance applications is supported by the secret key. Symmetric encryption is best suited for large amounts of fast moving data, usually encrypted in blocks. DES (Defense Encryption Standard), triple DES, AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and Blowfish are typical examples of Symmetric encryption algorithms. The Hash technique of encryption The hash technique is also known as a Message Digest and one-way hashes. The Message Digest simply maps plaintext of any length into cipher text of a fixed length. This technique is widely used for primitive security checks for digital signatures, message integrity, or for password verification. Cryptographic hash functions are used to prove message integrity and create digital cer

Sat, 28 Jun 2008 23:30:36 +0200 In the next few paragraphs about jobs and employment, we'll tell you about how to search for jobs. We are confident that you'll find the information you get in this article contributive. Technology is taking over our lives in many ways. The very nature of technology is to help make things simpler for us. Those of us that are older have had a high learning curve when it comes to the use of the various pieces of equipment that are now available for home use. Many older adults laugh about asking their children to help them learn how to use different home items such as computers and other electronics. I have to admit that I though the new CD player I purchased was broken until my ten year old figured out that I had the CD in upside down. Adults seem to be afraid that we are going to break or damage the equipment by pushing the various buttons, but kids are not afraid to try different things to make the items work. Last year I decided that I needed to look for a different job. I was no longer happy in the positio n I was working and the long commute was getting to me. I told my husband that I was going to use vacation days to search for a job because I could not do this during the day at my fulltime employment. When my nineteen year old heard me say this he told me that I could search for jobs online. He showed me how to access a website where I could post my resume and have it available to employers that had openings. He said that there were several employers that register with the websites where people could search for jobs. He found this out through the work force center that summer when he had been looking for a job. Keep reading further to learn how this topic can benefit you, as the rest of this article will supply you will the needed information. He found the website that would be the most appropriate for me and placed it in my favorites so I could easily access it. When I entered the site I filled out a questionnaire that described my education as well as my work history. There was also a spot where I coul

Once you begin your search for a printer to make your ID cards you will discover there are many options available at a variety of different prices. Many ID printers are multifunctional and can perform a number of different tasks which make them a very useful tool for any business. Types of Card Printers There are many different types of identification card pri nters available today in a variety of prices. With all the options available it can sometimes be a little difficult deciding which one would suit your needs the best. However, if you take a little time and consider which features you really need and which ones you don't this will help to narrow your search. Questions to ask yourself include whether or not you will be printing the card on one or both sides, do you need a magnetic strip or would you like to have holograms on the ID badges for added security. Single-sided printers work great for simple jobs like student identification cards or employees that work in companies that don't need a lot of security. However, the double-sided printers are best for companies that need increased security. You will also have a choice between paper and plastic cards so you will need to decide which one you will be using before you will know which printer to buy. Some types use ribbons and other designs don't so this is another decision that you will need to conside
Fri, 27 Jun 2008 21:18:06 +0200 Some small businesses are comprised mainly of marketing, management and sales gurus, leaving something to be desired in the IT department. The solution for this is simple. If you're wasting valuable time attempting to correct computer network problems when your expertise is in another field altogether, the other areas that need your attention suffer. This is why managers bring in a reliable third party business IT service--a computer network support team that can handle most of your diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades remotely. Think of these technicians as the guardian angels of your IT infrastructure. They watch over your network so you can devote your attention and expertise to the immediate needs of your business. How do you know which third party computer networking services are competent enough for the job? Well, if you have a small to medium-sized business, look for a company that specializes in managing systems for companies that size. Secondly, make sure all of the technicians working on your network are trained and certified in the skills they offer--don't just let anyone have a go at your IT investment. A good business IT service will provide state-of-the-art solutions without trying to sell you anything you don't need. As small companies grow, business functions expand and often technology upgrades are needed to sustain the business at its next phase. When IT systems become difficult to maintain with in-house computer network support, there comes a time when business owners have to make a choice about where to allocate resources. Should you invest your time, or your staff's time, in working on computers? Or should you pay someone else to do it so you can focus on your business? How much money are you losing as a result of IT problems? How much would you profit if everything was running smoothly and you could focus on new upgrades and roll-outs instead of diagnostics and dead-end solutions for recurring problems? If you want your business to remain productive and successful (a

HP conducted an experiment among different brands of LTO 3 ultrium backup data cartridges. The tests prove that users of HP LTO3 Ultrium data cartridges could obtain twice the data capacity per backup and significantly greater reliability. HP branded LTO3 Ultrium data cartridges provided upto three times as many continuously successful backup and restore cycles. The price of HP LTO-3 Ultrium cartridge is less than the other competing brands. Testing in extreme climatic conditions have demonstrated the reliability of HP LTO Ultrium media, where data has been fully recovered from tapes that have withstood the worlds most extreme environments. The test engineers took four LTO3 Ultrium RW cartridges. The two tapes were from HP and two from another leading brand and tested them in four HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960 drives. They test was conducted in a controlled environment of 74F and relative humidity of 15. In the first stage of the test procedure, the cartridges were put through 100 continual full volumes, 400-GB native capacity, backup and restore cycles. This means that the total was 200 full-volume operations. The bit error rate BER was measured every 2 GB throughout the process. Data error rates provide the most informative measure of performance. The data rate also relates to how the tape is manufactured, the signal characteristics of the tape, its quality of coating, and the surface roughness. If the error rates are high, the drive has to work hard to verify that data is being saved or restored properly. High error rate occur when the signal becomes noisy and distorted. In the worst case, error rate levels ultimately reach a point where the drive cannot cope with correcting mistakes and data may be lost altogether. HP has developed proprietary software for the HP drives, this software acts like a powerful tape microscope and allows the user to analyze the performance of the backup and
Fri, 27 Jun 2008 01:34:08 +0200 The LTO-4 format has the capability to encryptdecrypt data within the tape drive hardware. The LTO 4 ultrium backup tape does not require the software based encryption and its inherent performance overheads. The LTO-4 Ultrium Tape Drive allows data to be encrypted following compression maintaining optimum storage efficiency. Through compression, the tape drive hardware-based data encryption also improves the efficient use of available storage capacity. The other methods of encryption leave compression until after the encryption process has taken place, often producing random data that cannot be compressed. Encryption is a standard part of the Ultrium LTO4 format which requires that all drives must be encryption aware. All LTO 4 tape drives from any vendor will return the appropriate sense codes when presented with an encrypted LTO4 backup cartridge tape. The implementation of the encryption capability is, however, optional and consequently some manufacturer's LTO-4 drives may not have this capability. W here drives have encryption enabled, interchange of encrypted data is made possible by the standard nature of the format specification, regardless of manufacturer. The Ultrium LTO4 backup tape drive can read the LTO2 format tapes and on other hand, reads and writes LTO3 format tapes. However, encryption is not a supported feature of either the LTO3 or LTO2 tape format or drives. The encryption function of the tape drive is controlled by two new SCSI commands that are approved by the SCSI T10 standards committee, Security Protocol In (SPIN) and Security Protocol Out (SPOUT). SPOUT is used to enable encryption and sets the key, while SPIN is used to obtain the encryption status of the drive. The Ultrium LTO 4 Tape Drive encryption standard is AES Galois Counter Mode with a 256-bit key. This is a secret key (or symmetric) algorithm, requiring the same key encrypt and decrypt data. To maintain security the key is not transferred to the tape cartridge under any circumstances and is only retained by the dr
Tue, 24 Jun 2008 19:26:23 +0200 CBAC Overview The Cisco IOS Firewall Feature Set is a module that can be added to the existing IOS to provide firewall functionality without the need for hardware upgrades. There are two components to the Cisco IOS Firewall Feature Set in Intrusion Detection (which is an optional bolt-on) and Context-Based Access Control (CBAC). CBAC maintains a state table for all of the outbound connections on a Cisco router by inspecting tcp and udp connections at layer seven of the OSI model and populating the table accordingly. When return traffic is received on the external interface it is compared against the state table to see if the connection was originally established from within the internal network, and then either permitted or denied. Although basic this is a very effective mechanism to prevent unauthorized access to the internal network from external sources such as the internet. CBAC Application-specific support Cisco have also built in some additional functionality into CBAC in terms of application -specific inspection that enables the router to recognize and identify application specific data flows such as HTTP, SMTP, TFTP, and FTP. Understanding these applications and their data flows empowers the router to identify malformed packets or suspect application data flows and permit or deny accordingly. CBAC also provides the flexibility of downloading Java code from trusted sites, but it denying untrusted sites. CBAC and Denial of Service (DOS) Attacks Denial-Of-Service (DOS) attack protection is also in-built with real-time logging of alerts as well as pro-active responses to mitigate the threat. To do this CBAC can be configured to manage half-open TCP connections which are used in TCP SYN flood attacks to overload a targets resources resulting in a denial of service to legitimate users. To do this CBAC uses timeouts and thresholds, which are configurable, to determine how long state information for each connection should be kept for sessions and when to drop them. Note that UDP and ICMP require
Thu, 26 Jun 2008 00:08:34 +0200 Is it possible to run your car with water? In a sense, yes. That doesn't mean to run and get a garden hose and fill your fuel tank. The term "run your tank with water" is a little deceiving it seems. While water is used in the process, it is a little more complicated than that. Actually, only a small amount of water is used. That is because hydrogen gas is extracted from the water as the car or truck is running. No hydrogen is stored in the car. It is a demand only system. As the engine runs, the alternator produces electricity which is routed into a small container of water which contains special electrodes, made of stainless steel, that are situated in the water. As current flows from one electrode to another, hydrogen bubbles rise to the top of the water container. The hydrogen came from the water. Water, consists of hydrogen and oxygen. It is mostly hydrogen. Anyhow, these bubbles of hydrogen, which are flammable, are routed through another container of water for safety from a flashback before moving on via a hose, to the intake of your engine. As the hydrogen is burned, it increases the number of mile you get from the gasoline as the hydrogen provides additional fuel for the engine.
Mon, 23 Jun 2008 22:34:20 +0200 Have you heard of water powered cars? They are becoming very popular as people frantically search for a way to save money on gasoline. But, what is a water powered car? Since water won't really burn, how in the world can it power a car? It will turn to steam if you heat it and boil away. The answer is that it won't power a car. Remember, water won't burn and we need something that will burn to operate our internal combustion engines. But, water is composed of oxygen and hydrogen. And, hydrogen will burn. It will burn quite readily and we have known that for many years. And, oxygen will change the flash point of fuels depending upon the concentration. So, water, a substance we have always trusted to put out fires and quench our thirst is composed of some potentially dangerous elements.

Thu, 19 Jun 2008 10:00:47 +0200 It is a well known fact that the wave soldering for the printed circuit board manufacturer and for the other people involved in the large scale soldering business is a very important process. The people involved in this, make themselves well aware of every aspect of this process. Hence in order to help them, here is a glossary including some quite important terms and process from the wave soldering process. These terms and process glossary will help in knowing the wave soldering process more precisely. Adhesive: - It is a Material used to clutch component in place during wave soldering or reflow soldering. It can be made a permanent part of the assembly or could be removed if wanted. Blowhole: - Invalid waves solder connection fashioned by out gassing during the wave soldering process. Chip-on-board Technology: - General term for a component assembling technology. In this, the silicon die is mounted directly on the printed wiring board. Cold solde r joint: - A wave solder link showing deprived wetting and a dirty, permeable look due to inadequate heat, not enough cleaning before the soldering, extreme impurity in the solder, andor due to poor flux action. Component: - A separate part or can say combination of parts which, collectively, carry outs a design function. Component lead: - It is a stranded wire which performs both electrical and mechanical function, and is attached to the components. Dewetting: - It is a condition which takes place when, molten solder has covered a surface and then withdrawn, it leaves erratically wrought mound of solder. Dual-wave Soldering: - It is a specific type of wave soldering which uses turbulent wave with a consequent laminar wave. Eutectic: - It is used for alloy of two metals which has a lower melting point as compared to either of its constituents. Fault profile: - It is portrayal of the sort and frequency of the electrical defects most probably to be found on a populated PCB. Flux: -
Fri, 20 Jun 2008 16:19:16 +0200 As many people are trying to do something about getting better gas mileage, the question of which product to buy to learn how to build and install a hydrogen generator in their car arises. There is a wide variance in prices and well as other factors such as support from the author and ease of understanding. Some of the water for gas guides are just too difficult to comprehend. The author may have left out obvious details or gone into too much theory in explaining the procedure. Most people are not interested in deep details of how the system works, but just want a simple procedure that they can do within a few hours. At the same time, the reader does need to read over the whole procedure to insure he understands it. Personal injury or damage to your vehicle could result if this is not done.
Thu, 19 Jun 2008 12:08:47 +0200 Everyone has surely heard of the Seiko Watch. It is a rather durable and pretty dependable timepiece that many people have owned at one time or another. Basically, when looking for reliable quartz that doesnt cost 500, this watch is the perfect candidate to grace your wrist with its presence. What is rather interesting is that the word Seiko means exquisite, miniature, or success in Japanese. This Company was started in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori of K. Hattori & Co. Ltd. It wasnt until 1913 that the first watch was made, and that was when the Seiko revolution started. Since then, Seiko has developed many types of watches including the digital ones that many of us wear on our wrists today. You see men and women of all ages wearing these styles of timepieces, and now we are even seeing kids wearing their very own in order to keep track of their increasingly busy lives. No wonder parents are placing these timepieces on the wrists of their kids because they are durable and can withstand the everyday ab use that kids put their timepieces through. These mass-produced dependable Seiko watches have made an impression in the world of time. They are sleek and affordable; have accurate time telling abilities, appeal to both the genders, and with the creation of the battery-less timepiece, the way we tell time is even becoming environmentally friendly. What more can you ask for when it comes to an affordable and attractive watch that anyone can get a hold of? Well, you cant. If you cant afford a designer timepiece with all of the bells and whistles, a Seiko watch with all of the bells and whistles will do just fine, especially if you tend to smack your wrist up against brick walls for the fun of it.
Thu, 19 Jun 2008 10:03:01 +0200 The LTO ( Linear Tape Open ) tapes came in two forms Accelis and Ultrium. The Accelis is 8 mm tape, dual reel cartridge. It was actually developed in 1997, and the purpose was the fast access to data, that loads at the midpoint of the tape to minimize access time. IBM were the pioneer in this tape format by introducing (short-lived) 3570 Magstar MP product. The real-world performance of Accelis does not exceed that of Ultrium tape format. Ultrium is 12" tape, single reel cartridge. In the mid 1980s, DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) and IBM (International Business Machines) converted this kind of tape into a single reel, enclosed cartridge. IBM named their cartridge 3480. LTO Ultrium was developed as a replacement for DLT(Digital Linear Tape). This development made possible for robotic tape library vendors to convert their DLT libraries into LTO. The Ultrium drive reads data from a cartridge in its own generation and at least the two prior generations, and writes data to a cartridge in its own genera tion and to a cartridge from the immediate prior generation in the prior generation format. LTO tape products and versions are: LTO 1, LTO 2, LTO 3, LTO 4, LTO Barcode Labels, LTO Cartridge Memory Reader, LTO Cleaning Cartridge and LTO Empty Cases. LTO 5 and LTO 6 under development and will be available in future. LTO-1 ( 100200 GB) Released in September 2000 LTO-1 was the developed by Seagate, HP and IBM as a contender for the market that was then dominated by DLT tapes (owned by Quantum). LTO-1 has 100 GB native capacity and compressed rate of 200 GB Has a transfer rate of up to 15 MBs. Uses RLL 1,7 (Run length limited) Tape thickness is 8.9 μm, and tape length is 609 m. LTO-1 has 384 tracks. Wraps per band are 12 and linear density (bitsmm) is 4880. Bit density is low, compared to second and third generations. LTO-1 tapes have a quick to market design and are made by easy techn
Mon, 16 Jun 2008 10:03:02 +0200 Hey, I'm Stephen Gilbert, and i'm here to help. If you've ever wanted somehow to get your images online you've come to the right place. Here's a How To: If you want to transfer your favorite pictures from your camera, to the internet, or even from your computer, to the internet, here's how you do it. Camera to the Internet: 1. Take the chord that came with the camera, usually a USBFIREWIRE Chord, and plug one end into the camera, the other into the compute. 2. Turn the camera on. 3. If the software that came with the camera is installed, follow the easy steps to get it onto the computer. 4. If software isn't installed this is what you want to do, Go to, My Computer, Click on the drive that has the weird name, like "Camera" or "ASX16&ZD". Usually thats the camera. If you see a drive thats on there that's not C: drive just click on all the folders in the my computer screen until you come to your images. 5. If your software wasn't installed and you had to manually find the images, al l you have to do now is create a new folder on your desktop and just drag the images from the drive to the new folder. 6. Now the Images are on your computer. Now, you need to get them on the internet. 7. To get pictures on the internet you need to find an image hosting site. We recommend www.ImageSafe.us - Some sites may require you to register, just for their database use, but some do not. You can always do a Google search. 8. Once you've found your image hosting site, you want to look for the image hosting form. Usually its on the first page. 9. Now, On the form click on browse, and go to the new folder you created. 10. Load all the images one by one onto the form and hit upload. 11. Now, after you hit the upload a page should come up with links to the images. 12.Highlight the links, right click, hit copy, And then your set! From Computer to the internet! (This one is for if you already have your images on your computer, and you need to get them onto the World Wide Web!) 1. L
