 A lot of people have been anticipating iphone 3g release in india for a long time , but it has been a really disappointing release. The phones go for sell in india from 22nd August. Iphone would cost about 31k Indian National Rupees for 8gb ($710) and 36,100 Indian National Rupees for 16gb($837) The phones are being sold without any contract by two main players Vodafone and Airtel. The most annoying point, the even after paying this much money the phone would be locked with vendor you buy your phone from.You need to pay all the money upfront to get the phone, there is no subsidy like in other countries. Most indian apple enthusiasts are disappointed with the prices, specially when there is no 3G in india. This post is dedicated to all those people who complain all their life they want to be among the honest people, but when they finally meet a person who is radically honest they can't handle it.
 I usually don't put much effort into learning self defense, but last night i encountered some muscle head on the road trying to bully me and apparently just for a match box to lit his cigarette. I said no, and went on my way, but the guy started bullying saying shit like why are you walking on the road without a match etc. I somehow avoided that guy. I later came to he was acting so because his father is in police force (Yeah! Indian Police). This encounter made me wonder ? Should i try to avoid such people or deal them their way. Some people said, gandhi taught non violence, and that following him i should allow a second chance to hit.I say that doesn' help now because a) Police don't give a shit who is right b) Neither does Politicians or society. If you gotta live, and by live i mean live really well without being messed around by dickheads you either need a shitloads of money and political or police contacts to do so. One thing, we humans don't accept is that we are violent people, we have had over 15000 wars in last 5000 years of recorded history.But we still preach peace and talk world peace.All that talk and more wars. The point is , times have changed and that if i would let a fucking retard bully me for match box ,then i'm a really fucked up individual.Last night it was match box, next thing it could be my life. I know people would say getting into fights with retards is not a proper course of action,well doesn't matter.I know understand reality is different from what it is being taught in our education system and that preached by religions. In India, drop outs are treated as socially unacceptable or failures for the rest life. I personally have had a share of it for some time. Drop outs are like a stigma to society. People value college education over a kid's own will.And once you drop out, Suddenly you are the looser,the dumber among them. So how important is college to success ? I personally admire each of these individuals who are drop outs and yet very successful. All i am saying is a education is much over rated.Students committing suicide just for a failure in some board exams is just a by-product of this conditioning by society.Education alone is not the only way to be successful, and certainly not a specific profession. Taking into consideration the amount of money and time people spend on education WITHOUT their will, i would say its not worth it. I'm not against people who want to pursue professional courses , as they definitely require knowledge and skill level that you need to comprehend during those courses. There is a lot of money flowing around the world every day, so decide if you not ending up with a degree or with a specific job does means the end of the road.There is abundant money for everyone, we are living in the richest times humans have ever lived.  Now, this is something that totally blew my mind. I was aware about Chanakya and his role as strategist in Indian empire. But i never really read his works with scrutiny until Now. I just finished reading SRI CHANAKYA NITI-SASTRA (The Political Ethics of Chanakya) . Niti is a sanskrit word for Wisdom/Ethics. Almost every ancient hindu literature has put a lot of emphasis on Niti. In a brief, they all say we should not let our thoughts be affected by others into doing something stupid.Chanakya takes it a step further with detailed verses about the political ethics to survive and rise in your life.Now there were some parts of this text that i didn't adhere to, but then i guess that can be comprehended as change in current social and cultural lifestyle and in his lifetime. What i like most about his work is that he is Practical rather than religiously orthodox. He was a astute strategist and a wicked man when it came to dealing with his enemies. Talking about practicality, i can say that there is not much difference in the way we humans behave now or we did back then. For example, Chapter 6 Verse 5 says He who has wealth has friends. He who is wealthy has relatives. The rich one alone is called a man, and the affluent alone are respected as pandits. Chapter 7 Verse 2 He who gives up shyness in monetary dealings, in acquiring knowledge, in eating and in business, becomes happy. Chapter 7 Verse 9 Brahmanas find satisfaction in a good meal, peacocks in the peal of thunder, a sadhu in seeing the prosperity of others, and the wicked in the misery of others. Chapter 7 Verse 15 He who has wealth has friends and relations; he alone survives and is respected as a man. That's just about some of the things that i was able to relate to our times or at least around me.My point in all this , no matter what people say or pretend i have always seen the weight of Money heavier than any human emotions or rational reasons.Or in terms of Hollywood "You gotta be rich ! To manually remove the worm, move to command prompt (Start>Run>Cmd ) C:/> attrib -r -h -s autorun.inf C:/>del autorun.inf C:/>attrib -r -h -s mvxm.cmd C:/> del mvxm.cmd You would need to repeat the same procedure on every partition(D:,E: and so on ). In addition, when you would check the startup files (Start>Run>Msconfig ). In the Startup tab there might be an entry for amvo.exe or some other file that would execute the worm at startup, notice the path for the worm (For amvo.exe it is C:/Windows/System32/) C:/Windows/System32>attrib -r -h -s amvo.exe C:/Windows/System32>del amvo.exe Reboot and check for any unusual processes running in task manager.If there are multiple infections then you would need to remove those files too. Again the manual method is completely relied on the user's expertise with his system .Let me know if this works for you. And by the way, you should either format your flash drive or remove the autorun.inf from it and the file autorun.inf executes when the flash drive is plugged into your system. Check the post the dummy way for details. EDIT 2: For Hidden Folders in Windows XP Pro Click Start>Run>gpedit.msc Gpedit is MS Group Policy editor, NOTE: This will not work with Xp home edition. In the Group Policy Editor, Select User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Explorer Find a key named " Removes the Folder Option menu Item from the Tools menu" DOuble click and enable it . And if you cannot find an exe like mine, there is a chance that you are infected by some other worm. See if there is autorun.inf in your drive. Open it with notepad and see what file it executes, delete that file. Not acting alone cannot be classified as neutral, but acting without any intention of any harm to either creature once shows his involvement yet non attachment to the scenario. This is his version of the answer.  Gears of War 2 is finally official at GDC 2008. I must say Epic games has made considerable progress in unreal 3( Wikipedia has more details).I am now a complete fan of unreal 3 engine.It is this same engine being used with unreal tournament and Mortal Kombat 8. The trailer shows more locust, more blood and better game physics .The game physics like water splashes, object viscosity look damn real. Man this stuff gets better every time. This is the kinda stuff that i would like to work on, something that is creative and challenging, not to mention fun.The idea of abstract labour as Marx quotes it, as the work done just to earn the daily wage i.e. working create an inventory management system is just not my passion and the idea of enjoyment . I would really like to work with Cliffy B. someday. This is what separates the best in industry from the others, their attitude. I personally had one of the worst connections from BSNL , the problem was pretty lame. The connection would just die randomly and often ( within minutes). I did not had any good response from BSNL, except that they would send the line man every time to respond to my complain who would in turn just say that there was no disturbance in my connection.
But one day by serendipity, i found the solution to my connection woes. Grub today told me about this same problem with his connection. I told him to try this solution, and it worked for him. So if you have a BSNL dataone connection, and if adsl link just goes off every few minutes i.e. your connection dies off, then you can probably try this solution. Most dataone connections work using a splitter, with one end of wire going to telephone and other to your computer. So instead of just removing the phone, just keep the receiver off the hook (Yes! that means your phone is on engage for everyone else). See if this helps. It worked for two people now. Reason ? Well i do not have any in toto rational reason ,except that keeping the receiver off the hook somehow doesn't complete the telephone circuit. I have never been good at electronics in college. So if anyone out there can debug the circuit and find a proper reason. Please let me know. :) 1up Grub :D Portable flash drives have been a very essential part of our digital life. And this same portable media has turned out to be one of the most potent and easy way for viruses and worms to spread. Almost all flash drives i come across are infected, and the sad thing is that people still don't understand the gravity of such infections and thereby helping in spreading of the worms and viruses.  The safest way to remove such kind of worms and viruses is by using some sort of AV obviously. But there are always that times when the anti virus software is out of updates to detect and remove new malware executables. And then this is the time, when you are faced with terrible situation. A) You have some very important data on your flash drive B) You do not want to infect your computer/laptop or other devices with the same . Some part of this scenario can be overcome by using some really simple steps(I call it the dummy way), I'm gonna try and list each one properly.But for that we need to understand the way these viruses and worms spread through portable media .How do they GET in ? Most of these viruses use the mighty "Autorun.inf" way. Autorun function in windows is used to launch installer and other programs automatically when you insert a CD or flash drive. So basically autorun.inf determines what applications to launch. And when a new flash drive or CD is inserted, windows scans for any autorun.inf files and if found executes the rest according to the file. Let's break down an autorun.inf file used by a usb worm executable called algssl.exe which i already discussed some time back(Read it here). ---------------------------- [AutoRun] open=sal.xls.exe shellexecute=sal.xls.exe shell\Auto\command=sal.xls.exe shell=Auto [VVflagRun] aabb=kdkfjdkfk11 --------------------------- This file caused windows to open the sal.xls.exe from the flash drives and which ones in memory spread in all drives you moved to thereafter and wrote an autorun.inf file for the partition, which is why you might be unable to access your partitions. Good thing about Autorun functionality is that it can be disabled. It can be done using gpedit.msc (group policy editor) or the more traditional way,by implementing changes in registry. gpedit is only available with windows xp pro, so if you are on a home edition do it the registry way ---- REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf] @="@SYS:DoesNotExist" ------ Save the file as foo.reg and execute it to make changes into registry. A simpler way is to use the group policy editor Click on Start > Run and type gpedit.msc In the Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Turn off Autoplay Disable this and reboot, windows won't autoplay any media automatically. But if you are lazy enough to not to reboot , then coming back to our worst case scenario, once you mounted the flash drive, move to the dos prompt for your flash drive and remove the autorun.inf For example in my case it's J: J:/>attrib -h -r -s autorun.inf J:/>del autorun.inf Right Click and open the flash drive, copy only files that you think belong to you, be precise in opening every folder with right click instead of a left hand double click, as various viruses have different locations and tricks of spreading, and some often are copied back to most of the folders, so if you directly open the folder you might execute the virus/worm and bring it in memory(after that bye bye our simple ways to get rid of it :P). Format your flash drive once you are done with your backup. I would suggest removing the autorun.inf for every flash drive you use with your computer(specially if it does not belong to you). Above all these simple steps, there is one way, the easiest of all. The best of all, an ultimate solution to all your flash drives and malware chaos . "Use Linux ! or Mac! " I would try write up something more on how these malware work when inside the operating system soon. It's been some time since google launched android, and developers are already developing some really cool applications and games for the platform. One such game which is really all over the internet is wifi army, a blend of GPS and google Maps. I really appreciate Peter Whatanitch's idea, this game would really shift the paradigm of Multiplayer games. It would be really nice to see how a java game can do all this with easiest interactions as the company says.
