Pulse 3 DVD Box ArtIt's been a while since we heard much about Pulse 3, the Joel Soisson-helmed second sequel to the American remake nobody asked for. But since the DVD drops in just a few weeks -- December 23rd to be exact -- Genius Products and The Weinstein Company have released the box art for the disc along with a couple of choice stills.

According to the press release, Pulse 3 takes place seven years after the phantom invasion, and the survivors on Earth have settled into a primitive lifestyle completely void of technology. That is, until sixteen-year-old Justine is lured into the city where her curiosity gets the best of her as she unwillingly unleashes the deadliest digital invasion yet.

The bonus features to be included on the DVD are as follows:

  • Behind-the-scenes featurette
  • Commentary by writer/director Joel Soisson, producer Mike Leahy, actress Brittany Finamore, and editor Kirk Morri
  • Not a bad little package; hopefully the movie will live up the effort the distributors are putting into it. Pre-order Pulse 3 by clicking the Evilshop link below, and be one of the first to judge the results for yourself.

While She Was Out poster! Here’s one we keep skipping over coverage on for reasons I’m not entirely sure of (my vote is laziness). It’s definitely a good contender for our genre and if nothing else stars the babe-a-licious Kim Basinger, who just keeps getting more attractive the older she gets.

Nothing says “hot” like a woman in peril, and that’s what While She Was Out takes advantage of to the fullest. Basinger stars as Della, a suburban housewife whose series of bad choices put her up against some backwoods psychopaths lead by Lukas Haas.

Anchor Bay is putting out While She Was Out in New York and LA on December 12th, and to celebrate they just sent over the final poster for the film. Depending on how the coastal screenings go, we may be seeing an expanded theatrical run, but if not expect a DVD announcement after the New Year.

Keep it here for more on While She Was Out very soon!

Howard the Duck comes to DVDOn the one hand, Howard the Duck is not really horror related. On the other hand, the movie does have the cigar-chomping duck man waging war with a body-snatching alien called the Dark Overlord that eventually manifests itself in the form of a humongous insectoid bent on world domination. Ah, who cares one way or another? Howard the Duck is finally coming to DVD.

Universal has confirmed a special edition DVD release of the notorious yet strangely beloved, George Lucas produced, 1986 box office bomb Howard the Duck for March 10, 2009. Digitally remastered and featuring new 5.1 surround sound, no DVD artwork just yet but the extras have been confirmed. This disc is going to be fairly loaded for a DVD retailed for around $14.99.

  • "A Look Back at Howard the Duck"
  • "Releasing the Duck"
  • News Featurette
  • "The Stunts of Howard the Duck"
  • "The Special Effects of Howard the Duck"
  • "The Music of Howard the Duck"
  • Teaser Trailers
  • Winner of multiple Razzie Awards, hailed as one of the worst films of 1986 by Siskel & Ebert, and a rather costly financial catastrophe at the box office, Howard the Duck has garnered a cult following. Maybe it's the absurdity of the very premise. Maybe it's the hot duck-on-Lea Thompson action. Maybe it's Tim Robbins overacting to the hilt. Whatever the reason be, a DVD release has been greatly anticipated by many for years now. The wait is finally over.

Loved the movie as a little kid. Haven’t seen it again in nearly 20 years. Be curious to see it again through the scrutiny of adult eyes.

Mark your calendars, folks. Howard the Duck on DVD: 3/10/2009.

Terror Overload!Wow, two stories about movies with Joe Knetter in them in two days. If I’m not mistaken that’s one of the Biblical signs of the apocalypse. I could be wrong, though; it’s been a while since I’ve read my Bible.

Today we give you Terror Overload, another anthology Knetter is involved in (this time only as a star) with stories revolving around the evil lives of truckers. The wraparound has a creepy truck driver telling a sexy stranded hitchhiker some scary stories like “Dinner Date”, “Lot Lizard” and “Mongo Chupa”.

So what can we expect from Terror Overload, aside from beefy hunks of Knetter goodness? ”[An] ultra-low-budget horror flick loaded with over the top blood, boobs, creatures, sleaze and a bunch of other crazy shit you will have to see to believe” according to the press release we received.

You can check out some trailers (three in total), photos, art and a lot more at the official Terror Overload site, so get clicking! Now if you see another story about a Knetter movie tomorrow, don’t run; haul ass!

Just got a heads up from the guys behind the upcoming indie film Satanic Panic, Marc Selz Productions, that a mask design used in the movie was just picked up by Chicago-based Zagone Studios for reproduction! The mask, which you can see in all its badass glory below, will be part of Zagone’s 2009 catalog and will be in select Halloween outlets next year.

The mask was sculpted by J. Anthony Kosar, a young kid who's got a helluva lot of promise if his website’s any indication. Satanic Panic follows a group of friends who run afoul of a demented Satanic cult and find themselves prime candidates for sacrifice.

Distribution is being sought as we speak, so expect to hear more soon!

Haunted Airplane? Nope, but it worksDo you dare gaze upon the trailer for a motion picture bold enough to use the title Haunted Airplane? Yes ... Haunted Airplane. Because I guess a more gimmicky title like Poltergeists on a Plane sounds a little too passe now.

Haunted Airplane is the newest from Dustin Rikert, the writer/director of the martial arts Western Ghost Rock and last year's atrocious Alien Invasion Arizona (review). The film has something to do with a mysterious box that gets opened on a commercial airliner in mid-flight unleashing assorted spectres that bring about all manner of supernatural death and chaos.

The NSFW trailer for Haunted Airplane has crash landed onto YouTube and ... You just have to see it with your own eyes. It really just has to be seen for oneself. I suspect most everyone that leaves a comment will rip it to shreds. Heck, I'm almost tempted to myself, but I must admit something about it made me smile. Probably something to do with the phantom effects causing me to have flashbacks to my youth playing The Rescue of Pops Ghostly on the Action Max game system. Where's my light gun when I truly need it?

Zone Film to produce PiecemealI’ve not heard of anyone involved with this project, but sometimes those are the best kinds of projects to focus on for a bit. THR got word this morning that Zone Film is developing a new movie called Piecemeal, working from a script by Jeff Welch.

The film will be directed by Daniel Roby, who took home accolades from the Toronto International Film Festival a few years back for his Canadian vampire film White Skin, which was released here by Lionsgate as Cannibal back in 2006. The story of Piecemeal follows a teenager struggling to control his rage while living the life of a brutally abused young man in a series of recurring nightmares.

The only principal involved whose name I recognize is Martyrs producer Simon Trottier, which is good enough for me. Piecemeal will be the next film Roby directs after finishing up the 70’s-era saga Funkytown in March. We’ll bring you more as we learn it!
