Nothing says “hot” like a woman in peril, and that’s what While She Was Out takes advantage of to the fullest. Basinger stars as Della, a suburban housewife whose series of bad choices put her up against some backwoods psychopaths lead by Lukas Haas. Anchor Bay is putting out While She Was Out in New York and LA on December 12th, and to celebrate they just sent over the final poster for the film. Depending on how the coastal screenings go, we may be seeing an expanded theatrical run, but if not expect a DVD announcement after the New Year. Keep it here for more on While She Was Out very soon! Universal has confirmed a special edition DVD release of the notorious yet strangely beloved, George Lucas produced, 1986 box office bomb Howard the Duck for March 10, 2009. Digitally remastered and featuring new 5.1 surround sound, no DVD artwork just yet but the extras have been confirmed. This disc is going to be fairly loaded for a DVD retailed for around $14.99. Winner of multiple Razzie Awards, hailed as one of the worst films of 1986 by Siskel & Ebert, and a rather costly financial catastrophe at the box office, Howard the Duck has garnered a cult following. Maybe it's the absurdity of the very premise. Maybe it's the hot duck-on-Lea Thompson action. Maybe it's Tim Robbins overacting to the hilt. Whatever the reason be, a DVD release has been greatly anticipated by many for years now. The wait is finally over. Loved the movie as a little kid. Haven’t seen it again in nearly 20 years. Be curious to see it again through the scrutiny of adult eyes. Mark your calendars, folks. Howard the Duck on DVD: 3/10/2009. Got news? Click here to submit it! Thu, 04 Dec 2008 18:52:12 +0100 Just got a heads up from the guys behind the upcoming indie film Satanic Panic, Marc Selz Productions, that a mask design used in the movie was just picked up by Chicago-based Zagone Studios for reproduction! The mask, which you can see in all its badass glory below, will be part of Zagone’s 2009 catalog and will be in select Halloween outlets next year. The mask was sculpted by J. Anthony Kosar, a young kid who's got a helluva lot of promise if his website’s any indication. Satanic Panic follows a group of friends who run afoul of a demented Satanic cult and find themselves prime candidates for sacrifice. Distribution is being sought as we speak, so expect to hear more soon! ![]() Got news? Click here to submit it! See the devil in the mirror with a quick trip to the Dread Central forums! Haunted Airplane is the newest from Dustin Rikert, the writer/director of the martial arts Western Ghost Rock and last year's atrocious Alien Invasion Arizona (review). The film has something to do with a mysterious box that gets opened on a commercial airliner in mid-flight unleashing assorted spectres that bring about all manner of supernatural death and chaos. The NSFW trailer for Haunted Airplane has crash landed onto YouTube and ... You just have to see it with your own eyes. It really just has to be seen for oneself. I suspect most everyone that leaves a comment will rip it to shreds. Heck, I'm almost tempted to myself, but I must admit something about it made me smile. Probably something to do with the phantom effects causing me to have flashbacks to my youth playing The Rescue of Pops Ghostly on the Action Max game system. Where's my light gun when I truly need it? Got news? Click here to submit it! Wonder how this ever happened in the Dread Central forums! Thu, 04 Dec 2008 10:05:08 +0100
The film will be directed by Daniel Roby, who took home accolades from the Toronto International Film Festival a few years back for his Canadian vampire film White Skin, which was released here by Lionsgate as Cannibal back in 2006. The story of Piecemeal follows a teenager struggling to control his rage while living the life of a brutally abused young man in a series of recurring nightmares. The only principal involved whose name I recognize is Martyrs producer Simon Trottier, which is good enough for me. Piecemeal will be the next film Roby directs after finishing up the 70’s-era saga Funkytown in March. We’ll bring you more as we learn it! Got news? Click here to submit it!
