When you walk into a room, you get a certain feeling. Sometimes its a feeling of joy, sometimes it's a feeling of calm, and sometimes it's a feeling of dread. What causes these feelings? Much of the time, it's due to the color of the paint in the room. Choosing the right paint color of your room can be the easiest and most cost-effective way to alter its feeling, and by extension, your mood.

As an interior designer, I often use lighting to create drama when my client's decorating budget is tight. By simply adjusting ceiling lights, using inexpensive table lamps, or strategically-placing accent lighting, I'm able to increase a room's impact at a lower cost.

As an interior designer, I'm often asked by my clients if it's a good idea to use similar colors and furnishings in a room. Their common belief is that similar colors will create a safe, clean-looking design. I tell them that although the design will be safe and clean-looking, it will also be very uninteresting.
